Sherry Adkins

Sherry Adkins had a love for creating at a young age.  She started her art journey as a pencil artist.  She studied Physical Therapy Assisting at Ivy Tech out of high school and had a career in this field for 10 years before ending that journey and beginning her teaching career.

Sherry teaches elementary art at Yorktown Elementary.  Around 2019, she discovered the art of woodburning.  She combined her love for realistic pencil drawing with woodburning and started to push the boundaries of what woodburning can look like.  She is a self-taught artist who loves to learn new techniques through practice, videos, other artists, and studying nature.

Sherry is married to Wes, has three wonderful boys, loves being outside and appreciating God's creation.  Most of Sherry's work reflects Indiana scenery and wildlife.  Creating art is a kind of relaxing meditation that brings calm in the midst of the excitement.
