Sheila Piazza

Sheila Piazza finds inspiration in the mundane and the everyday with its opportunity to pause and reflect. She considers herself primarily a still-life artist and works in colored pencil and oil paint. Recently, she has taken on the challenge of landscape, discovering the color green to be quite confrontational.

Teaching art has been a big part of her life. Her students have ranged from preschool to adult, with middle school being her favorite. Awards included Middle School Art Teacher of the Year, Delaware Community Schools Teacher of the Year, Indiana Youth Institute Fellowship, National Marie Walsh Sharp Teacher/Artist Fellowship, and numerous local, state, and national grants.

Piazza’s work has been shown in the Indiana State Museum, Cynergy three state Traveling Exhibit, Anderson Museum of Art, Minnetrista, Blackford County Art Center, Portland Art Center, Indiana State Fair Professional Division, and ArtWorks Gallery.
