Joan Nelson

An interior design class at Ball State University taught by Dr. Alice Nichols led me to a lifelong appreciation of mid-century modern furniture and abstract art.  Over the years I have collected some of my favorite mid-century furniture as well as original artwork by contemporary artists from Indiana and Michigan.  These works bring me joy, comfort, and inspiration.

I have pursued my art education through classes at Ball State University, workshops with local friends Ann Johnson and Susie Burns, artists David Slonim, Bob Burridge, and French Impressionist painter Pierre Bittar, as well as watercolorists Tony Couch, Sterling Edwards, and Paul Jackson.  Quilting and fiber arts are other passions of mine.

I have enjoyed my membership in MAG, particularly working on the mural gifts to the City of Muncie and Ball State University.  In addition to MAG, I am affiliated with DOMA Art Alliance, Friends of DOMA, and the Muncie Art Students League.
